Pi Sigma Chi had built this version of the website (shown above) 7 years ago and it stood unedited and never updated from 2001-2003.

We must have never had reoccurring payments set up with the hosting company so the website and the name “pisigmachi.com” was lost and made available to anyone to purchase by the public. Luckily no one had done that and I grabbed it back from the abyss of the internet over 1 year later in early 2005 and we had our second revision our web appearance (shown in the next image).

It was built using frames and now I realize how ineffective it had been.

Nevertheless, I maintained it for a while and once I graduated in 2006, I needed to pass it off to the next webmaster but the site was a mess of different pieces of html code. I rewrote most of the site so that we didn’t use frames but now I was using part html and part php code in a table formatted site. We used Dreamweaver so creating and updating would be a little easier on the webmaster This was the first time we implemented a private section which only included a forum.

Then in 2008 we had a meeting in which a SharePoint server was discussed and everyone loved it except for the cost of licensing it and maintaining it. I then looked into open source CMS systems which were completely based on php coding. We chose Joomla!because of its easy integration and ease of adding new applications and scripts without knowledge of php or html scripting. In this version we were able to have a singular login for each brother to access his own content or content made available to all register brothers. 75% of the site maintains itself, 20% is created and maintained by all of the registered brothers collaboratively, and merely 5% is moderated and created by a group of Administrators. Now in December of 2008 we finally launched our 4th revision of the Pi Sigma Chi website which is going to revolutionize the way we as an organization and social fraternity do business with others and communicate with ourselves.  Congratulations Pi Sigma Chi!
